Die fünftgrößte Höhle der USA liegt an der landschaftlich interessanten Übergangszone von den bewaldeten Black Hills zur hügeligen, offenen Prärie Süddakotas. Beeindruckend sind die schummrigen, nur spärlich beleuchteten Gänge und Kammern, seltsam ausgewaschene Felsformationen und sogenanntes Boxwork - ein filigranes Flechtwerk aus unzähligen Kalkplättchen an den Decken und Wänden der Höhle.
